Laying A Corner Stone
On Monday, notwithstanding the severe cold and threatening storm, the usual ceremonies of laying the corner stone of a Congregational church at Maple Hill were duly performed – Rev. John Scott officiating. A box containing the following articles was deposited in an excavation cut out in the stone:
Sunday School Times, New York Tribune, Christian Union, Kansas Temperance Palladium, Telephone – 2 copies, American Messenger, Newton Journal, Congregationalist, Wabaunsee County News, Sunday School papers, Bible Class Quarterly for 1880, History of the Church, Copy of the paper with vote on Prohibition Amendment.
