In 1859, Bartholomew Griffin, hotel keeper and Merchant, donated land for a Roman Catholic Church and Cemetery. A log church was erected at the top of the hill and in 1890 the current church was built.
The Church & cemetery are situated at the south end of Dornoch which is approx 15 KM north of Durham.
