The church reported 79 members in 1907 and 72 members in 1916. The congregation dwindled over the next two decades, but a news headline of July 3, 1936, said: "Baptist Church at the Famous Old Resort Being Revived After Long Inactivity." Numbers rose and fell again, and by 1952, the church had only 12 members. However, members rallied yet again, formed committees, and set goals to beautify the church and grounds, erect a fence around the cemetery, and make other improvements. "Rural Church of Year Award Sought by Butler Springs" declared a news article of March 19, 1953. By the end of the 20th century, however, regular services were no longer being held and membership reports were no longer sent to the Butler Baptist Association.
The cemetery and church are on South Butler Springs Road/Co. Rd. 7, in Section 33, Township 10 North, Range 12 East, Butler County, Alabama. Drive approximately 13.5 miles west from Greenville on AL HWY 10 West. Turn south onto Butler Springs Rd (Co. Rd. 7). Turn south again (a left turn) when this road intersects Bibb Road (Co. Rd. 5) and becomes "South Butler Springs Road."
