Marker Reads:
Site of old Aiken's Tavern. Quarters of General William Howe, September 3 to 8, 1777. Tavern then owned by Matthew Aiken, who laid out this village, naming it Aikentown. Renamed for Glasgoe in Scotland.

Directions: From I-95 take 896 South. Turn right onto Rt 40. Turn right at the first street on your right, Glasgow Avenue. Pencader Cemetery and Pencader Presbyterian Church are on the corner. Continue North past the church. The Glasgow Methodist Church and graveyard are marked by a historical marker. If you go to where the street becomes one way, you went too far.
