I have found two addresses for the church:
600 County Road 810
Wedowee, Alabama 36278
293 County Road 38, Lineville, Route #1
Randolph County, Alabama
The church sits exactly between Wedowee & Lineville. It was known for many years as the Community of Ophelia (old country folks spelled it Ofelia). It was named for the first post mistress, Mrs. Ophelia Overton Burrow. Her husband J. W. Burrow, Jr. operated one of the early stores in the area. People would "go to (see Mrs.) Ophelia for the mail."
My great-great-great-grandparents Daniel & Charlotte Sharp donated the 10 acres land for the church & school in 1869 from their 450 acre farm. They had done the same thing in Chambers County from their 650 acre plantation there.
They rest in the cemetery with one of their daughters.
The church sat about 150 yards in front of the Sharp House, a large two story affair with covered porches running the full length of the front of the house, top & bottom, now reclaimed by the forest. The farm had wonderful fruit orchards. Some of the old pear trees were still there in the 1960's.
The first church was built of logs in 1852 by the early settlers. Some of the early families were Morrow, Burrow, Yates, Knight, Floyd & Taylor.
The log church was replaced in the 1890's. Remodeling has been done in later years, with pine paneling added to the walls of the church auditorium, new windows and more Sunday School rooms. Neat metal memorial plaques are along the walls, honoring the gifts from the members and friends who have loved ones buried in the churchyard.
Pastors who have served this church include Rev. Clay Knight, Rev. Jimmie Shaddix, Rev. J. R. Stodghill, Rev. Sim Ingram, Rev. J. D. Martin, Rev. C. B. Martin, Rev. George Shaddix, Rev. S. C. Ray and Rev. Harlin East. Later pastors were Rev. Homer Willoughby, Rev. Hiram Ray, Rev. W. T. Overton, Rev. Elbert Daniel, Rev. Charlie Heard, Rev. E. T. McKay and Rev. D. Ray Warren. Rev. M. L. Robinson is the present Pastor (in 1962 - HR).
Mrs. W. A. Morrow, who grew up in the community, reports that five ministers were ordained in the church. They are Rev. C. B. Martin, Rev. D. R. Warren, Rev. Olen Stewart, Rev. David Willingham and Rev. Richard Thomas.
Services are held twice a month, Sunday School every Sunday. Mr. Bill Ogle is Superintendent of Sunday School; Miss Elaine Morrow is Secretary, and the teachers are Mr. W. D. Hendon, Mrs. Bill Bankhead, Mrs. Roy Heard and Mrs. George Waldrop.
The present deacons are Messrs. J. T. Yates, G. D. Knight, W. D. Hendon, Bill Ogle and Omer McCollum. Former Superintendents of Sunday School have been Messrs. P. T. yates, J. T. Floyd, E. L. Yates, C. L. Moncus, and Ezra Hampton.
Summing up the feelings for the church, Mrs. J. T. Yates, a long-time member, said she hoped they would never move the church building, because so much good shouting had been done there.
With some information from "On the Hills of Home," by J. C. Sharpe.
