On July 3, 1971 the first known survey of this cemetery was completed by Dr. Allan E. Marble. Per his usual method, he did not name the cemetery but assigned it an identifying number, in this case 103, and a location, Springfield.

At a later date, Genweb volunteers transcribed Dr. Marble's original survey notes and made them available online at Rootsweb. At that time, the volunteers gave the cemetery the name "Springfield Cemetery" and location, Springfield.

Dr. Marble transcribed 210 headstones in 1971, which he noted as being in good condition. This is an active cemetery, so the number of headstones today is greater than what Dr. Marble surveyed.

DIRECTIONS: The cemetery is located on the west side of Highway 10, at Civic #1203, the Springfield Baptist Church.
