Unity Baptist Church was formed in 1818 about a mile or so north east of its present location. It burned in the last 1800s and rebuilt at its current location in 1885. In time it abandoned the care of its original cemetery, which became known as "Old" Unity Baptist Cemetery. The one lying across the highway from the church today is known as "New" Unity Baptist Cemetery, even though the name of the church remained the same: Unity Baptist. This has caused confusion and there are cemetery entries under all three names: Unity Baptist Cemetery, Old Unity Baptist Cemetery, and New Unity Baptist Cemetery. I suggest you search all three, and if you make additional entries, I suggest you not use Unity Baptist, but either "Old" or "New" Unity Baptist Cemetery.

I strongly suggest that you look at New Unity Baptist Church Cemetery on the Find A Grave website. This church has multiple entries and it is confusing, but it is because the church burned in the late 1800s and relocated, leaving behind an "old" cemetery. To designated it from the newer location, the word "New" us used even though it is not part of the name of the church.
