The name of Shoaf's Chapel and cemetery was changed to Persinger Memorial Cemetery in the late 1940's in honor of Benjamin Meade Persinger, who was a renowned Minister of Virginia in the Methodist Church at the time of his death in an automobile accident.

From Covington, take South Carpenter Drive, Route 18, which leads into Potts Creek Road. Follow this road eight miles to Route 788, Llama Lane, and turn right. Follow road past (Benjamin) Persinger Memorial Church. The cemetery will be on the left after the next bend in the road. It is well kept, enclosed at the front by black iron fencing and has a chain across the entrance. The cemetery is still in use and the road through the cemetery is paved.
