History of Parr-Frans Cemetery: May 22, 1780 Rawleigh Colston withdraws his entry of 25,000 acres on Eagle Creek and locates the same 25,000 acres on the Ohio at the mouth of a large creek. "Beginning at the mouth of a Gut about a mile below the mouth of the creek at a small improvement" namely Wolf Creek or at the time Limapolis. It was from this same tract of land that Parr-Frans Cemetery came into existence.
Breckenridge Court Records show Madison Frans lived near or on this land as early as 1817 or before.
In 1828 a deed was given to Madison Frans for 200 acres of land by Rawleigh Colston through his agent Ben Hardin . It was here Madison Frans and wife Mary Rentfro Frans settled and began to raise their family until Mary's death in 1835. Madison buried his wife on his land she being the first person to be buried in what's known today as Parr-Frans Cemetery. The second person to be buried on this land was Madison Frans mother-in-law Jane Hariston Rentfro in the year 1839. She had come to live with Madison and Mary Ann Frans in 1832. After the death of Mary Ann Frans his wife, Madison Frans Married America Rentfro Pearson, the sister of his first wife Mary Ann. Sometime between 1844 and 1850 Madison and America Frans sells the land to Bloom Parr their son-in-law's brother. In 1864, Bloom Parr dies and to settle his estate in 1869, John G. Walker was appointed to sell the land to the highest bidder which was Isham F. Parr and wife Mary Ann Frans Parr, Madison Frans daughter.
In 1886, Deed Book 27 page 207, Isham Parr and wife Mary Ann Frans Parr deed to H.D. Parr, John B. Parr and S.A. Philpott, trustees of a Public grave yard on the Brandenburg and Frans Ferry Road, "for in consideration of the love and affection party of the first part has for his deceased relatives buried in said grave yard to be used for a Public burying ground and nothing else whatsoever"
Madison Frans died in 1863 and is buried between his two wives in the Parr-Frans CeMetery.
