Jacob and Rachel Creamer Arnold granted land for the purpose of the Gideon United Betheren church and cemetery for the sum of $1. The church was in front of the cemetery but is now gone. According to the late Charles Goslin, local historian a number of those buried in this cemetery were moved from another small cemetery overlooking Millersport road(now Sheridan dr)and reburied in Fetters. Among those moved were George Arnold and his wife who died prior to 1818.
There appear to be many empty spots in this small abonded cemetery. Neighbors say that at one time horses were allowed to run in the cemetery and lots of stones were down except the large Fetters stone. The neighbors have tried to clean it up and reset what stones they could. A number of stones are in pieces and some probably not reset in their original place.
The cemetery is located in Pleasant Township, Fairfield County, Ohio, and is # 3229 (Arnold Cemetery / Gideon Cemetery / Fetters Cemetery / Zion Cemetery) in “Ohio Cemeteries 1803-2003”, compiled by the Ohio Genealogical Society.
The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) Geographic Names Information System (GNIS) feature ID for the cemetery is 1806815 (Gideon Cemetery / Arnold Cemetery / Fetters Cemetery / Zion Cemetery).
