This is the largest and only remaining African-American Cemetery in Franklin County and is located behind the Denton Baptist Church about two miles south of Mount Vernon’s business district on Holbrook Street, but within the city limits. There are probably slightly over 500 graves om this large cemetery. Only one tombstone was found which dated in the years before 1900 and that was the tombstone of A. D. Blackburn who died July 17, 1890.
