East side of Route 11, in Darkesville, north of Hatchery Rd. (CR 11/8). The entrance to the cemetery is a common driveway with house #6705.

The Darkesville (Old Methodist Episcopal Church) Cemetery dates to the 1790's and is under the care of the Darkesville United Methodist Church. John Butler and his wife, Deborah, on Dec. 31, 1798, deeded to John Davenport, John Grantham, Samuel B. Harris, John Turner, Joseph Hite, John Hite and Benjamin Boystone, trustees in trust, the cemetery property. This deed was signed by John and Deborah Butler in the presence of Douglas Butler, Mary Gardner and John Potts.

This cemetery is unusual in that there were both blacks and whites buried here relatively early. The blacks were buried in the northern end and the whites were buried in the southern end of the cemetery.

There are many unmarked graves and many graves that are marked by fieldstones. This cemetery was neglected for approximately 50 years and has been restored. Unfortunately, many field stones which marked graves were moved during the restoration process. There are approximately 10 stones that have fallen face down and are not readable. There are also a number of mortuary markers that can no longer be read.
