The Vallerchamp Cemetery is located in Mt Pleasant Township south of Mt Pleasant Road, about 100 yards from McWilliams Rd., the second blacktop road to the left from Bowman's Bridge. Just after turning left, turn right on driveway. Cemetery is about 30 feet beyound.
The church was erected by Dr. Azima Vallerchamp shortly after buying the farm in 1841. He erected it for the convience of his workers and it was used until he movedin 1854. The church and cemetery property were not sold with the farm, but reserved to serve the community. In 1876 his widow granted permission to the Mt Pleasant School Board to use the Church Building as a School. It was so used until 1940. At that time 3 graves were still in good condition, according to noteson the Vallerchamps. Now just two tombstones are readable. The remaines of the steps and porch to the old Vallerchamp school can still be seen. Please stop and share a moment or a flower with the two who are remembered here and think of those who time has been too harsh to allow us to remember.
