The old Ikeler Cemetery in Greenwood Township is located on Millertown Road. The Cemetery is named after the doner of the land, William Ikler, with the earliest dated stone being 16 May 1840. It stands in a grove of pines west of the road. Many stones are unmarked native stones, so many more are buried here than names are known. Two family plots, the Ales and the Kitchens, are encircled with wrought iron fences. In October 2000 Eagle Scout Jesse Monroe of Troop 58 cleaned and restored the cemetery. He also placed there a marker with information about it. At that time there were twenty two marked graves and more than 50 unmarked stones. Please stop and search for your family and leave a flower or message or any corrections please contact me. Information is from the Columbia County Historical Society and Roots Web data base.
