Campo Cestio
Also known as Cimitero Acattolico , Cimitero Degli Inglesi , Rome Testaccio Cemetery
Rome, Città Metropolitana di Roma Capitale, Lazio, Italy
Hours: 9AM - 5PM most days, closed for Ferragosto (Aug 11th-17th in 2014). This is a gated and walled cemetery, "Closed" means you cannot physically get in. One of the walls is the ancient Aurelian wall which surrounded Rome and is quite visible on this southern side of the city.
Office has detailed maps, staff which speaks English and Italian and is very helpful in locating graves. A nominal fee of 3 Euros is requested of all visitors for cemetery maintenance.
The website has a searchable database of all internments and photos for a great many of them. As with all such data sources, you may need to search creatively.
There are roughly 5,000 internments in this cemetery. Mainly of the Rome Protestant community; lots of English. Headstones date back to the 18th century. The cemetery is broken into 4 sections, "V" (or Vecchia (old)) is the first and largest section to the left, followed by sections 1-3 to the right. Section 3 is further sub-divided into 4 sub-sections. Plots listed in that sections should also mention a sub-section. Keats and Shelley are in a further left section (Zone "A") directly behind a gated wall and the pyramid. Sections 1-3 have row numbers (starting from the front (bottom here)) and headstone numbers (starting from the left)
