Ann Street, east of where the original Meetinghouse stood. Also known as Indian Cemetery or Dexter Street Cemetery it was the first burial ground in Meriden, although some Meriden people were buried in the mother town of Wallingford. This plot was only in use from 1727 to 1771. Winston Churchill's 4th great-grandfather Timothy Jerome is buried here. The earliest intact marker is dated 1748. In 1857 the town erected a sandstone obelisk to record 29 burials which did not have markers. The gate was erected by the Ruth Hart Chapter of the DAR in 1904. Hale Index #2. There is also a 1906 transcription in the the book "A Century of Meriden," all of which are entered here. Photographs have been entered for all of the extant stones.
