History: The land for this small cemetery was donated by the Churchill family in the early to mid 1800s. Maps show it at some point in time as the Bissell Cemetery, and other records show it as the German Prairie Cemetery, and was originally situated by a United Brethren Church. Not enough is known to tell it's exact beginnings. It is no longer in use and is fenced and maintained, once in a while. The burial records have been lost, due to fire years ago. I have not found the year that this cemetery began, but judging from remaining stones the earliest burial with an existing stone is 1848.

Directions: Located NE of Springfield approximately 5 or 6 miles, just off of State Route 54. If coming from Springfield, turn right at county road marker 3.75E. The cemetery is visible from the road. It is one of the older cemeteries in the area and is not presently used for burials, but was mowed and is accessible.
