Memorials 13,946 added (93% photographed)

Van Liew Cemetery is one of the oldest in the township. It's history began as a family burial ground on the Van Liew farm dating back to the 1700's. Around the time of the Revolutionary War, the Van Liew family began allowing the burial of friends and neighbors.

In 1894, when the farm was sold off, the burial ground was saved and became a public non-non denominational cemetery. There are no records for the burials prior to 1894.

Around 1966, in order to make room for new construction at the First Presbyterian Church in New Brunswick, 520 bodies from the church's cemetery were relocated to Van Liew.

The cemetery is located at 585 Georges Road in North Brunswick, Middlesex County, New Jersey. It also has a side-entrance from Pine Street. The cemetery's office hours are Mon-Fri, 10am to 3pm.
