Daniel Huggins b. in Charleston, South Carolina abt. 1792. He died somewhere in Texas Abt. 1880. He married Sally Truluck in Charleston, South Carolina and had the following children: John H. Huggins (Martha Ann Sneed), George Huggins, Newton Huggins, Sally Huggins, Leona Huggins and Jasper Huggins. His four sons served in the Civil War and faught for the Southern Army. All four sons returned home after the war without major injuries. His first wife Salley Truluck Huggins b. in 1810 and died in 1863 in Red River Parish, Louisiana is buried in The Huggins Cemetery in Red River Parish, Louisiana. This cemetery is located on the 300 acres that Daniel homesteaded. When he left Louisiana heading west this land was bought by Jasper Huggins and part of this land is still owned by family members. On September 26, 1864 Daniel married Luvicey Lunsford Barrington in Natchitoches, Louisiana. She was b. March 22, 1819 in North Carolina and died October 20, 1887. She is buried in Weir Cemetery in Williamson County, Texas along with her daughter and granddaughter. No grave for him has been located. Also, his youngest son Newton was killed by wild indians while they were moving west. No one knows where he died or is buried. His son Jasper is the only child to stay in Louisiana. Any help with locating the burial site for Daniel Huggins would be appreciated.
