Simeon Highmyer died 2 Jan 1863 in the military hospital in Washington, DC. He died from injuries sustained during the Civil War. Simeon was in the 145th PA VOLS, Company K. The marker in the Erie Cemetery is a memorial to him since Simeon is buried in the Philadelphia National Cemetery in Pennsylvania.
