Caldonia aka Caldona aka Callie, had the last name of McClain, the same last name as her mother had. She was not married to the father. When her mother married later, her mother's last name changed to Kirkpatrick. Callie was not adopted, but she took the name of Kirkpatrick instead of using her legal and given name of McClain. This is something that most of the family wants hidden, but it's a fact of life that Callie was an illegitimate birth.
