Moore - Butler Cemetery

Moore-Butler Cemetery, Clay County, Tennessee, USA. 1 mile north of Union Hill - Mt Vernon Road on the old Terry Odle farm, about 350 feet east of the house. The description above was placed on the web some time between 1950 and 2010. Named the Moore-Butler cemetery because Jasper Moore and Louisa Vaughan Butler Moore were the original landowners and creators of the cemetery. It was established with the death of Jasper Leo Moore in April 1921 when the land owners and dwellers were Jasper and Louisa. The reason it was later noted as being on the old Terry Odle farm was that Terry Odle was son-in-law of Jasper and Louisa, married to Emily Moore, and they owned and resided there many years after Jasper & Louisa died. The graves were re-located in 2008 because the farm was no longer owned by the Moore family. It had a total of 5 graves, including the following: Jasper Leo Moore (d 1921). Jasper Jackson Butler - son of Bailey B Butler and Louisa Vaughan Butler Moore (d 1921). Delvie Aron Moore - grandson of Jasper and Louisa (d 1925). Louisa Catherine Moore (d 1933). Eugene Cherry - greatgrandson of Jasper and Louisa (d 1944).My mother was Semmie Bell Moore Johnson, daughter of Jasper Leo Moore and Louisa Catherine Vaughan Butler Moore.
