I do not know why Guy McQuain's headstone shows the wrong dates for both his birth and death. My mother, Vivian Lenora Mcquain Borrer, my 3 aunts, Thelma Jean McQuain Mills, Norma Irene McQuain Appelt, Willma Alice May McQuain Liccion as well as my only uncle Robert Charles Meadors, Jr. confirmed that all my dates in my Ancestry.com McQuain /Ledgerwood tree were correct. And I originally got this information from Nora Ethel Ledgerwood Meadors Mcquain. She was the widow of both Robert Charles Meadors, Sr. and Guy Mcquain. On the night of 6 Jun 1939 an electrical storm hit the oil field causinga fuse on one of the oil pumps to go out. It was Guy's job to seethat all the pumps were working, so he had to change the fuse inthe oil pump. Just as he reached and touched the fuse a lightingbolt hit the pump causing an electrical surge to flow from the pumpthrough the fuse box to Guy's hand, killing him instantly. He hadbeen electrocuted by the lighting bolt. His funeral was held in theSaint Louis High School Gymnasium.
