Stewart or Stewart/Whitehead Cemetery, Clay County, Kentucky, USAHillside cemetery located on Flat Creek in eastern Clay County, KY on the southeast side of Flat Creek near the mouth of Rocky Fork in the Hurricane Hollow or Branch, about 500 feet uphill from the bottom land; has about 15 or so graves or markers and a number of depressions that are probably spouses; there may be 30 graves, total; the cemetery is not well kept or fenced; it is partly overgrown but has some more recent graves and headstones (1970's & 80's); there is a very large beech tree at the NW corner on the downhill side that may be a monument or witness tree in old deeds (a deed/map showing this is in hand); this is the same cemetery as the "Whitehead Cemetery" that is also listed; the two should be merged. The cemetery is on land that was owned by Thomas Stewart, my great-great-grandfather, who was the original homesteader and one of the older, if not oldest, people buried there.
