I am John Ritchie Black III. Eldest son of John Ritchie Black Jr., who was born 7 Apr 1929. He was son of John Ritchie (Richie) Black Sr., born 7 Aug 1874/1876, died 18 Oct 1954. He joined the Philadelphia Fire Dept in 1901. He was son of Joseph Black (d. 22 May 1897) and Mary Jane Ritchie (1838-1915). My father's mother was Mary "Mayme" Barwis Sutcliffe Black. (1893-1959). She married Jacob Sutcliffe on 14-Feb-1914. They had two girls, Grace and Ruth. Jacob died tragically in 1920. Then Mary Barwis Sutcliffe married John R Black Sr in 1921. He was 18 years older than she. John Jr was born in 1929. Ruth passed away at age 16 in 1930. John R Black Sr., Mayme, her mother Hannah Stirk, her father Howard Barwis and others are all buried in Oakland Cemetery, Philadelphia, in lots J-177 and J-176.
