Bio

I've been doing some sort of genealogy most of my life, but have actively searched for information on my own family since the early nineties, starting with a multitude of stories from close family members along with my grandmother's bible filled with births and deaths of various relations.

Most of my research has been done with the help of books and microfished vital statistics, census and news articles. I've only recently joined the ranks of online genealogy through sites like Find a Grave and Ancestry, but have been a frequenter of the old Gedforums for years and years.

Please feel free to use the photos I post. It'd be nice to have the credit for them so if someone sees them and wants to know more, they can contact me. Networking is the best kind of research!

A Little Note: Quite a few of my ancestors hail from VA , WV and KY. One thing I've noticed are names ending in the letter A having a nickname ending in IE on this site. This is typically not the case, even though census records and the like misspelled names a lot.

For instance, my grandmother's name is spelled Golda, pronounced Goldie. Goldie, however is not her nickname. It's her real name, Golda, in her native Eastern Kentucky Colloquial Brogue. Likewise, way back, I have a great uncle memorialized on this site named Asa . Nickname on Findagrave is Acie. That's not the case, really. Acie is the colloquial pronunciation for the name Asa.
