Bio

For about a decade I have been doing genealogical research for my family and for the families of friends and acquaintances. It appeals to my sense of connectedness with people and history, and challenges my fondness for solving puzzles. My professional and personal backgrounds include working with large amounts of volunteer-provided information in text and image form, as well as photography, so it's a good fit for me in those ways as well.

SPECIAL PROJECT: Currently I am working on the underserved and historically significant Beth Hamedrash Hagodol-Beth Jacob cemetery. My goal is to provide full coverage of memorials, photo, plot and gps for this cemetery.

PROJECT STATUS:
01 Nov 2022: 30% with grave photos, 3% with gps. 3118 memorials.
28 Feb 2023: 90% with grave photos, 88% have gps. 3290 memorials.
Photos taken and posted for 99% of graves. (Approx. 4000 images, counting multiple angles for some larger monuments, and inscription details). Any of these which are poor quality due to lighting/shadow, technical mishap on my part, I will be reshooting over the course of the spring/summer.
48 duplicate memorials have been identified and merged to date.
52 known missing memorials (illegible or missing markers, Hebrew-only inscriptions) remain to be identified and added.
