Winter/Spring Greetings! | Something for Everybody: Albus Dumbledore, a character from the Harry Potter series, said, "For in dreams, we enter a world that is entirely our own. Let them swim in the deepest ocean, or glide over the highest cloud". This quote suggests that dreams allow us to escape reality and enter a world of our own creation.

Even though Punxsutawney Phil is wrong on occasion, we still respect the groundhog and a "holiday" that's stuck around for more than a century, and one in which we are reminded to put down our high-tech gadgets and consult with nature. No matter what the weather, spring will officially arrive with the Vernal Equinox on March 19, 2024, at 11:06 p.m. EST.

Lilacs (Syringa) have an incredible ability to add color and beauty to the spring landscape every year,
enchanting those that grow them.

Nothing is more memorable than a smell. One scent can be unexpected, momentary and fleeting, yet conjure up a childhood summer beside a lake in the mountains; another, a moonlit beach; a third, a family dinner of pot roast and sweet potatoes during a myrtle-mad August in a Midwestern town. Smells detonate softly in our memory like poignant land mines hidden under the weedy mass of years. Hit a tripwire of smell and memories explode all at once. A complex vision leaps out of the undergrowth.

Today only happens once . . .
make it amazing!

. . . Love and light to you,
to light your way. — ᑎᗩᑎᑕY 🕯

The Dash poem is a poem by Linda Ellis that emphasizes the importance of how we live our lives. The poem states that the dash between the birth and death dates on a tombstone represents all the time that a person spent on Earth. The poem emphasizes that what matters is how we live and love, and how we spend our dash, rather than how much we own.

"The Dash" by Linda Ellis

I read of a man who stood to speak
at the funeral of a friend
He referred to the dates on the tombstone
from the beginning...to the end.

He noted that first came the date of birth
and spoke the following date with tears,
but he said what mattered most of all
was the dash between those years.

For that dash represents all the time
that they spent alive on earth.
And now only those who loved them
know what that little line is worth.

For it matters not, how much we own --
the cars...the house...the cash.
What matters is how we live and love
and how we spend our dash.

So, think about this long and hard.
Are there things you'd like to change?
For you never know how much time is left
that can still be rearranged.

If we could just slow down enough
to consider what's true and real,
and always try to understand
the way other people feel.

And be less quick to anger
and show appreciation more,
and love the people in our lives
like we've never loved before.

If we treat each other with respect
and more often wear a smile,
remembering this special dash
might only last a little while.

So, when your eulogy is being read
with your life's actions to rehash,
would you be proud of the things they say
about how you spent YOUR dash?

Lives pieced together,
with smiles and tears,
colored with memories,

This short poem acknowledges that we cannot stop old age or death, but assures us that even after a loved one has died, we can still find happiness in memories of their life.

"Memories"

Life can never stay the same
No matter how we try
Our hands can never stop
The clock of life from ticking by

But love remains, unchanging
In the care of sorrowing hearts
For as the love of life is stilled
The love of memory starts

Aldous Huxley (1894 - 1963): 'To his dog, every man is Napoleon; hence the constant popularity of dogs.' In his famous quote, Aldous Huxley suggests that to a dog, every man is like Napoleon, which has led to the enduring popularity of dogs. At face value, this quote implies that dogs have a unique perception of us humans, seeing us as capable, authoritative beings worthy of admiration. This is likely because dogs rely on us for their care, love, and safety ... ★彡 ✞

"They Softly Walk" by Hugh Robert Orr

✞ They are not gone who pass
Beyond the clasp of hand,
Out from the strong embrace.
They are but come so close
We need not grope with hands,
Nor look to see, nor try
To catch the sound of feet.
They have put off their shoes
Softly to walk by day
Within our thoughts, to tread
At night our dream-led paths
Of sleep.

They are not lost who find
The sunset gate, the goal
Of all their faithful years.
Not lost are they who reach
The summit of their climb,
The peak above the clouds
And storms. They are not lost
Who find the light of sun
And stars and God.

They are not dead who live
In hearts they leave behind.
In those whom they have blessed
They live a life again,
And shall live through the years
Eternal life, and grow
Each day more beautiful
As time declares their good,
Forgets the rest, and proves
Their immortality. ✞

✞ Life is but a stopping place, a pause in
what's to be, a resting place along the
road to sweet eternity. We all have
different journeys, different paths along
the way, we all were meant to learn some
things, but never meant to stay. Our
destination is a place far greater than we
know, for some, the journey's quicker,
for some the journey's slow. And when
the journey finally ends, we'll claim a
great reward, and find an everlasting
peace, together with the Lord. ✞

Hello, Friends!

I stumbled across a note I posted to a memorial in September 2023. Some of you might recall reading it:

"✞ "The Bible is God's chart for you to steer by, to keep you from the bottom of the sea, and to show you where the harbor is, and how to reach it without running on rocks or bars." — Henry Ward Beecher"

Here's one you might recollect from August 2023:

"❤ "Faith is about doing. You are how you act, not just how you believe." — Mitch Albom, American author, journalist, and musician ❤ Practice believing that as we pray we are receiving God's boundless blessings. ❤ Love and blessings from California. ❤"

Here's one you might remember from July 2023:

"❤ ♥ So Loved ❤ ♥ Seeing an angel serves as a gentle reminder that God is always with us and that we are never alone. ❤ ♥ Angels serve as a symbol of God's everlasting love and protection for all of humanity. ❤ ♥ Many Blessings ❤ ♥ Love Always ❤ ♥ ꧁꧂"

Here's one you might have a flashback to from June 2023:

""The whole earth is full of His glory." — Isaiah 6:3 ❤ "In God's wisdom, He frequently chooses to meet our needs by showing His love toward us through the hands and hearts of others." — Jack Hayford ❤ Share with others how important they are to you."

And, here's another one you might recognize from January 2023:

""...So live, that when thy summons comes to join The innumerable caravan, which moves...sustained and soothed By an unfaltering trust, approach thy grave, Like one who wraps the drapery of his couch About him, and lies down to pleasant dreams..."—WCB"

"Thank you for visiting and flowering my family ≋ ❤"

And, our "glorious evermore" ...

"Glorious Evermore:
"Somewhere, under a bluer sky, in a higher realm than where eagles fly, in a land of beauty beyond our knowing, with trees and flowers and waters flowing, and mountains of unearthly grace, our loving Lord has made a place" ... ★彡 ✞"

Thank you so much for noticing, reading, requesting, following, remembering, and including my notes and quotes ...

There is no bigger compliment.

― ᑎᗩᑎᑕY ✿

"And one day, through an opening door,
We find that glorious evermore."

To indulge in reminiscence is to recall past experiences or events. It involves remembering and reflecting on past events, often with a sense of nostalgia or sentimentality. Reminiscing can be a way to relive happy memories and can provide a sense of comfort and connection to the past. Remembering something is to think of it again, while reminiscing is to recall past experiences or events, or to indulge in reminiscence. Indulge in enjoyable recollection of past events: take a trip down memory lane, exchange memories.

There is no cure for birth and death save to enjoy the interval.
The dark background which death supplies brings out the tender colors of life in all their purity.

In his thought-provoking quote, George Santayana (1863 - 1952) presents us with a profound perspective on the fundamental facts of life — birth and death. Succinctly put, he suggests that while we may ponder the inevitability of these events, the only true solace lies in wholeheartedly embracing the time in between. His words encapsulate the essence of living in the present and finding fulfillment in the present moment. Ultimately, his quote serves as a gentle reminder of the power we hold to shape our own perspectives and attitudes towards life.

🆆𝖆𝖙𝖈𝖍𝖎𝖓𝖌 𝖆 𝖕𝖆𝖗𝖊𝖓𝖙 grow older is an inescapably challenging and heart-wrenching part of life. How could I not feel the sharp pain of anticipatory sorrow when considering the fact that my mother is getting older and will not be around one day? How could I not search for ways to hide from, deny, avoid, or soften the pain? Avoiding the truth of the situation may provide temporary refuge, but the stark reality of life going on without both of my parents someday lingers. A few ways to cope with the fact that my mother is aging and calm my anxiety so that I can be there for her: 1.) Accept how the life cycle works; 2.) Be a good caregiver; 3.) Venting is important; 4.) Celebrate her while she's with me; 5.) It's time to get to know her better; 6.) Just be there for her. She's been strong for me all my life. Now, I need to be strong for her. 🕊

🅼𝖞 𝖘𝖈𝖗𝖊𝖊𝖓 𝖙𝖎𝖒𝖊 activity is sparse. I'm caring for my elderly mom and tending to her house and garden and country cat colony. I thank God every day that my mom hasn't joined my dad in heaven. For the most part, I'm taking a little break from Find a Grave. I wish I could leave a virtual flower on all of our memorials today — and every day — but I can't. To the active members who are stepping away from flowering, I understand where you're coming from. Out of necessity, I'm reducing screen time and increasing energy out. In 2007, Congress designated September 25 as the National Day of Remembrance for Murder Victims. Robert and Charlotte Hullinger, of Cincinnati, formed Parents of Murdered Children following the 1978 murder of their 19-year-old daughter, Lisa, while she was studying in Germany. The annual day of observance is on the date Lisa was murdered. 10 Of The Best Poems About Life Ever To Have Been Written

Great poetry manages to express the very essence of its subject – and when it comes to life, that's quite the challenge.

To capture something that is so varied, but that binds us together as brothers and sisters in arms takes real skill and craft.

Luckily for us, the best poets through the ages have penned many a classic and beautiful verse to help us understand – nay decipher – life in all its glory.

Here are 10 of the most deep and meaningful poems about life. Some long, some short, some famous, some less so.

10 Beautiful Poems About Life

1. A Psalm of Life by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

This rhyming poem is the spark that can reignite the fires within you. It challenges you to go out and live your life in the present moment as a "hero" and leave your mark on this world.

Act! Take Action! Be Active!

"Tell me not, in mournful numbers,
Life is but an empty dream!
For the soul is dead that slumbers,
And things are not what they seem.

Life is real! Life is earnest!
And the grave is not its goal;
Dust thou art, to dust returnest,
Was not spoken of the soul.

Not enjoyment, and not sorrow,
Is our destined end or way;
But to act, that each to-morrow
Find us farther than to-day.

Art is long, and Time is fleeting,
And our hearts, though stout and brave,
Still, like muffled drums, are beating
Funeral marches to the grave.

In the world's broad field of battle,
In the bivouac of Life,
Be not like dumb, driven cattle!
Be a hero in the strife!

Trust no Future, howe'er pleasant!
Let the dead Past bury its dead!
Act,—act in the living Present!
Heart within, and God o'erhead!

Lives of great men all remind us
We can make our lives sublime,
And, departing, leave behind us
Footprints on the sands of time;

Footprints, that perhaps another,
Sailing o'er life's solemn main,
A forlorn and shipwrecked brother,
Seeing, shall take heart again.

Let us, then, be up and doing,
With a heart for any fate;
Still achieving, still pursuing,
Learn to labor and to wait."

2. The Road Not Taken by Robert Frost

Life is made up of a succession of choices. This famous poem begins at a fork in a wooded path and ushers the reader along one "road" as a means of explaining that we must choose one way or another and not dilly-dally in life.

No matter which way we go, we cannot foresee where it will take us, nor how the other would have turned out.

We can do our best to make good decisions, but we'll never truly know how much worse or better an alternative might have been. And so, we mustn't regret the road not taken.

"Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,

And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference."

3. If— by Rudyard Kipling

Life will challenge you – physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. This poem calls out for you to endure, keep going through, and rise above the adversity you will face.

It inspires, it motivates, it provides an example to follow. It's like a recipe for life – and it provides a most satisfying meal.

"If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too;
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or being lied about, don't deal in lies,
Or being hated, don't give way to hating,
And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise:

If you can dream—and not make dreams your master;
If you can think—and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop and build 'em up with worn-out tools:

If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breathe a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: 'Hold on!'

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with Kings—nor lose the common touch,
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,
If all men count with you, but none too much;
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds' worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And—which is more—you'll be a Man, my son!"

4. Do not go gentle into that good night by Dylan Thomas

Death is inevitable, and as this poem states ('death' being 'dark'), it is right. But the author urges us not to yield to death too easily and to fight for life 'til our last breath.

It reminds us in a powerful and persuasive way that life is fleeting and we ought to make the most of the time we have on this planet.

"Do not go gentle into that good night,
Old age should burn and rave at close of day;
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Though wise men at their end know dark is right,
Because their words had forked no lightning they
Do not go gentle into that good night.

Good men, the last wave by, crying how bright
Their frail deeds might have danced in a green bay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Wild men who caught and sang the sun in flight,
And learn, too late, they grieved it on its way,
Do not go gentle into that good night.

Grave men, near death, who see with blinding sight
Blind eyes could blaze like meteors and be gay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

And you, my father, there on the sad height,
Curse, bless, me now with your fierce tears, I pray.
Do not go gentle into that good night.
Rage, rage against the dying of the light."

5. Desiderata by Max Ehrmann

This prose poem is like an instruction manual for life. It is hugely uplifting and affirms life as something to be journeyed through with integrity and compassion.

It touches upon many areas of existence from our relationships and careers to aging and our mental well-being.

Truly, a deep and meaningful composition if ever there were one.

"Go placidly amid the noise and the haste, and remember what peace there may be in silence. As far as possible, without surrender, be on good terms with all persons.

Speak your truth quietly and clearly; and listen to others, even to the dull and the ignorant; they too have their story.

Avoid loud and aggressive persons; they are vexatious to the spirit. If you compare yourself with others, you may become vain or bitter, for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself.

Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans. Keep interested in your own career, however humble; it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time.

Exercise caution in your business affairs, for the world is full of trickery. But let this not blind you to what virtue there is; many persons strive for high ideals, and everywhere life is full of heroism.

Be yourself. Especially do not feign affection. Neither be cynical about love; for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment it is as perennial as the grass.

Take kindly the counsel of the years, gracefully surrendering the things of youth.

Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune. But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings. Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness.

Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself. You are a child of the universe no less than the trees and the stars; you have a right to be here.

And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should. Therefore be at peace with God, whatever you conceive Him to be. And whatever your labors and aspirations, in the noisy confusion of life, keep peace in your soul. With all its sham, drudgery and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Be cheerful. Strive to be happy."

6. Leisure by W. H. Davies

This short poem could not be more pertinent to the world of today if it tried. It counsels us to take the time to "stand and stare" or, in other words, to slow down and observe all the beauty that surrounds you.

Don't let the world rush by without notice; open your eyes and see – really see – it in all its glory. Make space in your life for this simplest act of leisure.

"What is this life if, full of care,
We have no time to stand and stare.

No time to stand beneath the boughs
And stare as long as sheep or cows.

No time to see, when woods we pass,
Where squirrels hide their nuts in grass.

No time to see, in broad daylight,
Streams full of stars, like skies at night.

No time to turn at Beauty's glance,
And watch her feet, how they can dance.

No time to wait till her mouth can
Enrich that smile her eyes began.

A poor life this if, full of care,
We have no time to stand and stare."

7. Opportunity by Berton Braley

You may ask yourself what the point of life is if all you do is repeat what others have done before you. This poem serves to remind us that the world never tires of creation and that you are a creator.

It talks of great acts and great deeds, but also of love and romance and laughter and loyalty – things that every man or woman is capable of.

Value what you have to contribute to this world.

"With doubt and dismay you are smitten
You think there's no chance for you, son?
Why, the best books haven't been written,
The best race hasn't been run,

The best score hasn't been made yet,
The best song hasn't been sung,
The best tune hasn't been played yet,
Cheer up, for the world is young!

No chance? Why the world is just eager
For things that you ought to create,
It's store of true wealth is still meager,
It's needs are incessant and great,

It yearns for more power and beauty,
More laughter and love and romance,
More loyalty, labor and duty,
No chance–why there's nothing but chance!

For the best verse hasn't been rhymed yet,
The best house hasn't been planned,
The highest peak hasn't been climbed yet,
The mightiest rivers aren't spanned,

Don't worry and fret, faint hearted,
The chances have just begun,
For the best jobs haven't been started,
The best work hasn't been done."

8. What Life Should Be by Pat A. Fleming

Stepping away from the famous and classic works, we find this gem of a poem by an amateur writer (just goes to show that anyone can create pieces of great meaning).

Much like those more well-known poems above, it talks us through how we ought to try to live our lives. It's simple, yet inspiring.

"To learn while still a child
What this life is meant to be.
To know it goes beyond myself,
It's so much more than me.

To overcome the tragedies,
To survive the hardest times.
To face those moments filled with pain,
And still manage to be kind.

To fight for those who can't themselves,
To always share my light.
With those who wander in the dark,
To love with all my might.

To still stand up with courage,
Though standing on my own.
To still get up and face each day,
Even when I feel alone.

To try to understand the ones
That no one cares to know.
And make them feel some value
When the world has let them go.

To be an anchor, strong and true,
That person loyal to the end.
To be a constant source of hope
To my family and my friends.

To live a life of decency,
To share my heart and soul.
To always say I'm sorry
When I've harmed both friend and foe.

To be proud of whom I've tried to be,
And this life I chose to live.
To make the most of every day
By giving all I have to give.

To me that's what this life should be,
To me that's what it's for.
To take what God has given me
And make it so much more.

To live a life that matters,
To be someone of great worth.
To love and be loved in return
And make my mark on Earth."

9. What Is Our Life? by Sir Walter Raleigh

This is the shortest poem on the list at just 10 lines, but it encapsulates how life should not be taken seriously. Instead, the author suggests that life is a comedy and that the earth is our stage.

So what should we do? Act well. Make people laugh. Play our part in the world until the curtain falls and we depart this life.

"What is our life? The play of passion.
Our mirth? The music of division:
Our mothers' wombs the tiring-houses be,
Where we are dressed for life's short comedy.
The earth the stage; Heaven the spectator is,
Who sits and views whosoe'er doth act amiss.
The graves which hide us from the scorching sun
Are like drawn curtains when the play is done.
Thus playing post we to our latest rest,
And then we die in earnest, not in jest."

10. The Builders by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

We started with a poem by this author and so we shall end with another. Here, we are taught that life sits atop the building blocks of time and that our actions today give rise to our tomorrows.

We are the architects and builders of our lives and if we want to attain our own version of success, we must put in the hard work and energy.

"All are architects of Fate,
Working in these walls of Time;
Some with massive deeds and great,
Some with ornaments of rhyme.

Nothing useless is, or low;
Each thing in its place is best;
And what seems but idle show
Strengthens and supports the rest.

For the structure that we raise,
Time is with materials filled;
Our to-days and yesterdays
Are the blocks with which we build.

Truly shape and fashion these;
Leave no yawning gaps between;
Think not, because no man sees,
Such things will remain unseen.

In the elder days of Art,
Builders wrought with greatest care
Each minute and unseen part;
For the Gods see everywhere.

Let us do our work as well,
Both the unseen and the seen;
Make the house, where Gods may dwell,
Beautiful, entire, and clean.

Else our lives are incomplete,
Standing in these walls of Time,
Broken stairways, where the feet
Stumble as they seek to climb.

Build to-day, then, strong and sure,
With a firm and ample base;
And ascending and secure
Shall to-morrow find its place.

Thus alone can we attain
To those turrets, where the eye
Sees the world as one vast plain,
And one boundless reach of sky."

Peace

The wind disappears
As quickly as it comes,
Like the fleeting nature of
Powerful, and beautiful,
Experiences.

We miss those we lost,
But they are always with us.
All dearly loved
And deeply missed.

Sometimes,
Memories
Roll down our cheeks.

A lovely thought
A silent tear
A happy memory
Of one so dear.

≋≋≋≋

Beloved Pets

My heart it is brighter
Than all of the many
Stars in the sky,
For it sparkles
With my special friends —
It glows with the light
Of the love of my animals —
With the thought of the light
Of the eyes of my pets.

God Called Your Name

God called your name so softly,
That only you could hear.
And no one heard the footsteps,
Of angels drawing near.
The golden gates stood open,
God saw you needed rest.
His garden must be beautiful,
He only takes the best.

≋≋≋≋

God's Garden

God looked around his garden
And found an empty place,
He then looked down upon the earth
And saw your tired face.
He put his arms around you
And lifted you to rest.
God's garden must be beautiful
He always takes the best.
He knew that you were suffering
He knew you were in pain.
He knew that you would never
Get well on earth again.
He saw the road was getting rough
And the hills were hard to climb.
So he closed your weary eyelids
And whispered, 'Peace bethine'.
It broke our hearts to lose you
But you didn't go alone,
For part of us went with you
The day God called you home.

≋≋≋≋

I Said A Prayer For You Today

I said a prayer for you today
And know God must have heard.
I felt the answer in my heart
Although He spoke no word.

I didn't ask for wealth or fame
I knew you wouldn't mind.
I asked Him to send treasures
Of a far more lasting kind.

I asked that He'd be near you
At the start of each new day.
To grant you health and blessings
And friends to share the way.

I asked for happiness for you
In all things great and small.
But it was for His loving care
I prayed the most of all.

Lord's Prayer

Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name;
thy kingdom come,
thy will be done
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us;
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.

For thine is the kingdom,
and the power, and the glory,
for ever and ever. Amen. ✞

Power and Beauty of the Beach

Waves come crashing to grey sullen shores.
Powerful and strong, it breathes and roars.
Cascading and caressing each grain of sand,
A warm embrace between sea and land.

High above, a seagull soars high.
Wings of purity it spreads to fly.
Battling high against darkened cloud,
In a wind that blows fiercely, flying graceful and proud.

Beneath, the sand is soft and warm.
Sculpted by nature, it's weathered the storm.
A passionate battle between calmness and rage,
A new chapter's beginning; don't turn the last page.

I listen again to the whispering waves,
Music of nature calming and brave.
Its power unknown, its stillness untamed,
Mysterious and magical, a treasure earth claims.

≋≋≋≋

Prayer of Protection

The light of God
Surrounds you,
The love of God
Enfolds you,
The power of God
Protects you,
The presence of God
Watches over you,
And wherever you are,
God is,
And all is well.

Rainbow Bridge

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water, and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress his beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together ...

≋≋≋≋

She Is Not Gone

Ease your grief, she is not gone,
For in your heart she lingers on.
Her smile, her laugh, her special way,
Will comfort you from day to day.

You'll feel her presence in the breeze,
That dances gently, through the trees.
And it's her face that you shall see,
When you're in need of company.

At any time, you can recall,
The love you shared … you saved it all.
And in time, more than anything,
You'll find peace in remembering.

≋≋≋≋

When I Am Gone

When I am gone, don't shed a tear,
Or feel alone in your heart's deepest fear.
For I'll be there in every memory,
In laughter, love, and all that you see.

I'll be the wind that blows through your hair,
The sunshine that warms the earth and air.
I'll be the birds that sing a sweet tune,
The light that shines and the moon that's full.

And when you look up at the sky so blue,
Remember my love will be there for you.
It'll be the twinkling stars above,
A reminder of the boundless love.

So hold my hand just one last time,
And take comfort knowing I'll always shine.
For though I may be gone from sight,
My love will always be there, shining bright.

Astrology
Cancer is the fourth astrological sign in the zodiac, originating from the constellation of Cancer. It spans from 90° to 120° celestial longitude. Under the tropical zodiac, the Sun transits this area between approximately June 22 and July 22.

In astrology, Cancer is the cardinal sign of the Water trigon, which is made up of Cancer, Pisces, and Scorpio. It is one of the six negative signs, and its ruling planet is the Moon. Though some depictions of Cancer feature a lobster or crayfish, the sign is most often represented by the crab, based on the Karkinos. Cancer's opposite sign is Capricorn.

The Dash poem is a poem by Linda Ellis that emphasizes the importance of how we live our lives. The poem states that the dash between the birth and death dates on a tombstone represents all the time that a person spent on Earth. The poem emphasizes that what matters is how we live and love, and how we spend our dash, rather than how much we own.

"The Dash" by Linda Ellis

I read of a man who stood to speak
at the funeral of a friend
He referred to the dates on the tombstone
from the beginning...to the end.

He noted that first came the date of birth
and spoke the following date with tears,
but he said what mattered most of all
was the dash between those years.

For that dash represents all the time
that they spent alive on earth.
And now only those who loved them
know what that little line is worth.

For it matters not, how much we own --
the cars...the house...the cash.
What matters is how we live and love
and how we spend our dash.

So, think about this long and hard.
Are there things you'd like to change?
For you never know how much time is left
that can still be rearranged.

If we could just slow down enough
to consider what's true and real,
and always try to understand
the way other people feel.

And be less quick to anger
and show appreciation more,
and love the people in our lives
like we've never loved before.

If we treat each other with respect
and more often wear a smile,
remembering this special dash
might only last a little while.

So, when your eulogy is being read
with your life's actions to rehash,
would you be proud of the things they say
about how you spent YOUR dash?

Lives pieced together,
with smiles and tears,
colored with memories,

This short poem acknowledges that we cannot stop old age or death, but assures us that even after a loved one has died, we can still find happiness in memories of their life.

"Memories"

Life can never stay the same
No matter how we try
Our hands can never stop
The clock of life from ticking by

But love remains, unchanging
In the care of sorrowing hearts
For as the love of life is stilled
The love of memory starts

At face value, this quote implies that dogs have a unique perception of us humans, seeing us as capable, authoritative beings worthy of admiration.

National Day of Remembrance for Murder Victims
The annual National Day of Remembrance for Murder Victims gives us all the opportunity to remember those lost to homicide, and honor their memories. The purpose of this event is to focus on the impact of murder on families, and communities, and ways to support and serve survivors.

And the grave is not its goal;
Dust thou art, to dust returnest,
Was not spoken of the soul.

Not enjoyment, and not sorrow,
Is our destined end or way;
But to act, that each to-morrow
Find us farther than to-day.

Art is long, and Time is fleeting,
And our hearts, though stout and brave,
Still, like muffled drums, are beating
Funeral marches to the grave.

In the world's broad field of battle,
In the bivouac of Life,
Be not like dumb, driven cattle!
Be a hero in the strife!

Trust no Future, howe'er pleasant!
Let the dead Past bury its dead!
Act,—act in the living Present!
Heart within, and God o'erhead!

Lives of great men all remind us
We can make our lives sublime,
And, departing, leave behind us
Footprints on the sands of time;

Footprints, that perhaps another,
Sailing o'er life's solemn main,
A forlorn and shipwrecked brother,
Seeing, shall take heart again.

Let us, then, be up and doing,
With a heart for any fate;

And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;

"If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too;
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or being lied about, don't deal in lies,
Or being hated, don't give way to hating,
And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise:

If you can dream—and not make dreams your master;
If you can think—and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop and build 'em up with worn-out tools:

If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breathe a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: 'Hold on!'

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with Kings—nor lose the common touch,
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,
If all men count with you, but none too much;
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds' worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And—which is more—you'll be a Man, my son!"

4. Do not go gentle into that good night by Dylan Thomas

Death is inevitable, and as this poem states ('death' being 'dark'), it is right. But the author urges us not to yield to death too easily and to fight for life 'til our last breath.

It reminds us in a powerful and persuasive way that life is fleeting and we ought to make the most of the time we have on this planet.

"Do not go gentle into that good night,
Old age should burn and rave at close of day;
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

"All are architects of Fate,
Working in these walls of Time;
Some with massive deeds and great,
Some with ornaments of rhyme.

Nothing useless is, or low;
Each thing in its place is best;
And what seems but idle show
Strengthens and supports the rest.

For the structure that we raise,
Time is with materials filled;
Our to-days and yesterdays
Are the blocks with which we build.

Truly shape and fashion these;
Leave no yawning gaps between;
Think not, because no man sees,
Such things will remain unseen.

In the elder days of Art,
Builders wrought with greatest care
Each minute and unseen part;
For the Gods see everywhere.

Let us do our work as well,
Both the unseen and the seen;
Make the house, where Gods may dwell,
Beautiful, entire, and clean.

Else our lives are incomplete,
Standing in these walls of Time,
Broken stairways, where the feet
Stumble as they seek to climb.

Build to-day, then, strong and sure,
With a firm and ample base;
And ascending and secure
Shall to-morrow find its place.

Thus alone can we attain
To those turrets, where the eye
Sees the world as one vast plain,
And one boundless reach of sky."

Peace

The wind disappears
As quickly as it comes,
Like the fleeting nature of
Powerful, and beautiful,
Experiences.

We miss those we lost,
But they are always with us.
All dearly loved
And deeply missed.

Sometimes,
Memories
Roll down our cheeks.

A lovely thought
A silent tear
A happy memory
Of one so dear.

Beloved Pets

My heart it is brighter
Than all of the many
Stars in the sky,
For it sparkles
With my special friends —
It glows with the light

With the thought of the light
Of the eyes of my pets.

God Called Your Name

God called your name so softly,
That only you could hear.
And no one heard the footsteps,
Of angels drawing near.
The golden gates stood open,
God saw you needed rest.
His garden must be beautiful,
He only takes the best.

≋≋≋≋

God's Garden

God looked around his garden
And found an empty place,
He then looked down upon the earth
And saw your tired face.
He put his arms around you
And lifted you to rest.
God's garden must be beautiful
He always takes the best.
He knew that you were suffering
He knew you were in pain.
He knew that you would never
Get well on earth again.
He saw the road was getting rough
And the hills were hard to climb.
So he closed your weary eyelids
And whispered, 'Peace bethine'.
It broke our hearts to lose you
But you didn't go alone,
For part of us went with you
The day God called you home.

≋≋≋≋

I Said A Prayer For You Today

I said a prayer for you today
And know God must have heard.
I felt the answer in my heart
Although He spoke no word.

I didn't ask for wealth or fame
I knew you wouldn't mind.
I asked Him to send treasures
Of a far more lasting kind.

I asked that He'd be near you
At the start of each new day.
To grant you health and blessings
And friends to share the way.

I asked for happiness for you
In all things great and small.
But it was for His loving care
I prayed the most of all.

Lord's Prayer

Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name;
thy kingdom come,
thy will be done
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us;
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.

Remind them . . . to be peaceable, gentle, showing all humility to all men.
Titus 3:1, 2

"Your prayer for someone may or may not change them, but it always changes you."
— Craig Groeschel, pastor

Concentrate on helping others and grasp every opportunity to offer encouragement.

Father, may our prayers for others be as constant and natural as breathing.

To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven.
Ecclesiastes 3:1

"We need never shout across the spaces to an absent God. He is nearer than our own soul, closer than our most secret thoughts."
— A. W. Tozer

Recognize that your faith will lead you to great things.

Thank You, Jesus, for the precious moments when You bless our worship with Your Holy Spirit.

"If what's ahead scares you,
and what's behind hurts you,
then look up above.
God will guide you."

Terraform
To terraform something (such as a planet or moon) is to transform it so that it is suitable for supporting human life.

With Earth being the only Goldilocks planet within our reach, some argue that the survival of humanity depends on our ability to eventually terraform Mars.

. . . Try something new every day.
You never know what you'll end up loving.

. . . Make a difference in someone's life.
All we have to do is care.

. . . Care for others through
compassionate action and meaningful prayer.

. . . Be willing to take lovingly
each small gift of life.

. . . Light a candle,
say a prayer.
