I lost my dad and my Aunty a few years ago and one of my cousins knew that my dad was working on a family tree and asked if I could send him what information my dad had gathered. From the few scribbles of names and dates I found on bits of paper my dad had left I began tracing my grandmother's family tree, which lead me to this site.

I already knew a little about my Irish roots, having visited Ireland with my Aunty Wendy when I was 18 years old. While in Ireland we visited the Grier family farm and met a grandson of my great, great grandfather's brother who was still living on the family farm. The farm is no longer in the Grier family, with many of the family members having immigrated to Canada.

Someone from the Canadian side of the family had already done a lot of work putting together memorials for my family members, but there were a few gaps in my father's research. After having found my grandmother's birth record, I was able to look for the missing relatives by searching the records and newspaper articles. I am only just beginning but I am enjoying the detective work.
