Bio

Avid genealogist for Ashkenazi Judaism; the blood running through my veins carries its DNA to the Pale of Settlement.

In correlation to the constant movement of my ancestors across Eastern Europe, there are various instances of repetition in surnames across geographical locations. My ancestry is also tricky to research, having been freely manipulated (in regard to both onomastics and Hebraization) by the principle of having "no rules" in Ashkenazi culture, especially during the specific era and historical events that took place. This simply makes my project more interesting to work on, and further rewarding when I'm able to "connect the dots".

Since I cannot place one particular surname within the realm of one particular country, I am actively researching the following surnames, originating from Lithuania, Ukraine, Russia, Austria, Hungary, Poland, as well as Galicia. If you're a fellow enthusiast of Ashkenazi genealogy, you'll understand why I separated Galicia from Poland.

Specializing in finding Jewish gravestones, due to the often Hebraic spellings from its Anglicized form.
