I was born and raised in Chicago Il where there have been several Hilbrich families descendants of Nicholas H. who homesteaded in the Schererville IN area 1847. He was born in 1805 Neumagen Ger and was my great great grandfather. In 1947 I entered military and served till 1974. Although I did not know Barry Hilbrich, I am sure we were related. Perhaps distant cousins. I have visited the Westhoff cemetery to view his memorial and said a brief prayer to honor his service. After leaving the military I worked at Kelly AFB TX 1977 - 1993 and another employee, Ervin Hilbrich, born in Westhoff, worked in the same area. He is or was the spitting image of my gg grandfather. I went to his wake and met his son Arlen.
