Bio

I have been working on family histories since 1971 (beginning with my parents). In 1982 my mother-in-law asked me to locate her stillborn son (he was eventually located in obscure documents within the Kingscote Council Office 25 years later with 52 other stillborn infants in Kingscote Cemtetery) -
This request in 1982 began the Kangaroo Island History research.
The Kangaroo Island research includes 1806 - 27/7/1836 pre-settlement of South Australia (era of the sealers & their Aboriginal captives/partners) and from official settlement of South Australia 27/7/1836 - current.
Because most of the early ships from England came via Kangaroo Island (1837 - 1838) this research includes many of the early pioneers of South Australia. Only the HMS Buffalo went straight to Holdfast Bay (Glenelg), Adelaide, where the new colony was proclaimed 28/12/1836.

If you have any information that you wish to share relating to any family from Kangaroo Island please do. All information is appreciated. In particular if it relates to those who were on the Island that are buried on the Island.

If you are researching your family I may have someone your are looking for in my database - I have over 178.000 people - send any questions to my email and I will help where i can
