I have always found cemeteries to be a place of peace. Newly retired and looking for additional ways to give back, being a volunteer suits me perfectly. As a lover of history, I find that being a volunteer allows me to imagine what each person's life was like. I have a particular soft spot for our veterans and the little children who never grew old. My mission is to lovingly tend to each grave as if it's my own loved one - I try to ensure the grass and weeds are removed that are covering the stone and carefully clean the moss, etc off the stone. I enjoy photography so I pride myself in adding beautiful photos, often doing editing at home before I add them. When I visit the Hebrew cemetery, I leave a stone of remembrance as well. Please feel free to use any photos I have taken as you desire - they are my gift to the families.
