I'm much interested in old homesites, logging railroad grades and abandoned cemeteries. It is my pleasure to follow an old grownup road bed to look for chimney piles. I have explored the GSMNP and read much about early settlers. Old topo maps, before the park shows little dark squares representing homes still standing at that time. Researching a possible homesite and then finding a partial standing rock chimney is the best. Since I can't visit the mountains as much as I would like I started to look into history around Lancaster. Our History in the Lancaster area is rich. So many exceptional people were associated with the Lancaster area. In the future I hope to explore locations with the last remaining traces of a time gone by.
