I have always loved cemeteries, and as a writer and survey crew member have often found abandoned ones or badly tended ones in the unlikeliest of places. I had an idle curiosity about whose ancestors those cemeteries held, until the deaths of some of my dearest family members made me realize how little I knew of my own kin folk, and that their ancestors lay in some forgotten place. I wish to find them, and reclaim their part in our common story. Along the way, I may be able to help others do the same.
