We are a team- husband and wife, and our elderly parents, and our children, researching our lines of Espey/Aspey, Shinabargar/Shinabarger, Gray, Williams, Rothman/Rothmann/Roteman, and Chadwick; my husbands lines of Updike/Opdyke, Pierson/Person/Pearson; as well as my deceased first husbands line of Barclay and James.
We have 6 direct lines going back to patriots of the American Revolution. In our research, we have found my husband and I were already very distantly related thru both his moms line and his fathers line, into my fathers line.
I began my searches in the 1970's using family records and talking to the older members of our families. My father began his search long before. My mother is using records that her mother had. My husband is helping in the research of his line. Now, our adult children are starting to assist, as they are younger and can often be our legs in the cemeteries.
We only request the memorials to be transferred to us that are part of our family, or those of very close friends who were the same as family to us.
