Bio

I was born in Arab, AL and grew up on a farm outside of Albertville, Alabama in a community called Pleasant Grove. When I was 4, our house burned down and we moved into a house on 3rd Avenue in Arab. I went from grade 1 to grade 9 in Arab. My parents divorced and my mother moved us to Georgia. My mother's side of the family were Jones, Etichson, Robinson, Jordan, Bentley, Hay, and Oliver. The Jordan side of family have their own cemetery in Newnan, GA.
My great grandfather, Henry Mitchell Jones was the first of the Jones family to settle in Arab, AL. He married Susan Bentley Jones. Henry Mitchell's father was Harden Jones who married Parthenia Hay. I am told she came from Ireland at the age of 4.
I have traced the Oliver side back to the American Revolution. The Oliver side of the family came from Elbert County, GA. They have family members buried in Stenchcomb Methodist Church Cemetery in Dewey Rose, GA. I have traced the Robinson side to the Civil War.
I started my research over 40 years ago before the internet. Since I have turned 70, I have been doing more research as the internet had opened up information that was not readily available before. I am willing to share and information that I have and would love any help anyone could give me. God will reward you for being kind to old people. Thanks, Van Malone
