Bio

I have been researching my/our family history since 2016. Most of my work has been done on Ancestry.com, relying on the available records searches, Family Search, and Find a Grave. I am moving profiles and records I feel confident are correct into Wiki-Tree. I am trying to understand our family history and want to build a narrative to share with my children and grandchildren.

I got a jump start by using information that was gathered by two different cousins way back around 1992 when the work was much harder than it is today. My cousin, Robert Lee Alvey, Sr., spent 20 years researching and documenting "The Alvey Family of England, Maryland, and Kentucky" which was published in 5 parts by the Kentucky Genealogy Foundation. In 1992, my cousin, Beckie Hawkins Cox completed a detailed Hayden Family Tree with the aid of Bill Abell (son of Joe Abell) and Great Aunt Dorothy Hayden Medly who had kept Hayden Family records that she shared with us.

Using their work as a guide, I felt confident enough to start trees on Ancestry.com and eventually WikiTree. My intention is to preserve the fruits of their labor by proving them on Ancestry.com and then adding the info to the Wiki World Tree while giving them credit whenever possible.

"Hayden Family Tree 24 Generations" passed down from Dorothy Hayden Medley, Bill Abell and Rebecca Lynn "Becky" Hawkins 1992

Family history is like a rich tapestry woven from the threads of countless lives. Each ancestor contributes to the intricate pattern that makes us who we are.

Here's a little poetic snippet to celebrate our genealogical quest:

In the branches of time, we seek our roots,
Names etched in history, stories taking flight.
Through dusty archives and faded ink,
We trace the lineage, day into night.

Generations whisper secrets, tales untold,
Their echoes linger in the winds of yore.
From distant shores to homesteads old,
Our family saga, forevermore.
