Bio

I have been interested in family history all my life. Growing up, my daddy was the one who kept up with all of the family and had particular interest in his grandmother's three sisters. None had children and he felt that he ought to look "after" them. Sometimes I would go with him when he visited them. He taught history for years at Delta State University, in the Mississippi Delta, where we grew up. I fondly remember going into old cemeteries and tramping around trying to locate family members. I have inherited my daddy's research and have been working on filling in some of the gaps.

I am a retired social worker, who now has time to spend time on family research. When I discovered Find A Grave while searching on Ancestry, I decided that I wanted to help honor those who went before me. I began with my closest relatives and those who already had a memorial, I asked, politely, if it could be transferred to me. Everyone has been so kind and very prompt in transferring family. I am most appreciative.

My family research includes: Boschert, Raymond, Dickins, Carter, Henry, Mounce, Morgan, West, Jeske and DeLong and others. I have met some wonderful people and have enjoyed discovered new "kinfolks".

If I do have a memorial, not including my family members or close friends, that are part of your family, I will certainly be happy to transfer to you. Please make sure to use the name and FAG# of the person when requesting the transfer.

In addition to creating and maintaining family memorials, I had decided to try to make sure that everyone buried in the Shelby Cemetery, Shelby, Bolivar County, Mississippi, has a memorial page. I don't visit the area as often as before and am unable to maneuver the terrain in the cemetery like I once could, so I am not able to do as much as I would like.

The cemetery is maintained only by local volunteers. Any suggestions about caring for the cemetery, are welcome.
