I have recently become interested in my Vance heritage. I have lived in MS lost of my life as my father was a professor at Delta State University. My grandfather, Jode Warren Vance left MS to work for the Ak Highway dept so we have missed out on all of the Vance connection in NE MS. My great grandfather was Sidney Vance and his father was Samuel Phillip Vance. I am having trouble finding information on his father William Samuel Vance. I believe he came to the Water Valley area with the Lusk and Davidson families from North Carolina; although he census records say that most of his children were corn in Union County South Carolina. Since Union County, South Carolina borders North Carolina, I still think this is the correct line. Any help would be appreciated.
