In May 2019 I became interested in the Ritchie Cemetery in Topeka Kansas because so little is known about it. I started by compiling some historic information that I'd found at the Topeka Library in their Ritchie Cemetery newspaper clippings file. Furthermore I've searched Newspapers.com for obituaries at Ritchie as well as looking for burials at Ritchie in the Topeka City Clerk records. I used Ancestry.com and Familysearch.com to look for census data. Jan Johnson joined in the effort and has broadened the search for information including land records, family relationships, and legal records. She and I have also been documenting the flora and fauna of the site on inaturalist. Our combined work effort became the Ritchie Cemetery Project.
