I'm a semi-retired adult educator who developed an interest in family genealogy about 25 years ago. Since my grandparents were from Lithuania, it's been a challenge to link to other relatives, especially since one set of grandparents lived near Vilkaviskis, LT, which suffered heavy damage during both World Wars. Almost all church records prior to that time period were destroyed. However, despite the challenges, I find that I love tracing families, and I continue to do so. In fact, I probably spend way too much time adding profiles for Lithuanian families on the European based Geni. At this point in my life, I enjoy feeling like I am contributing to Lithuanian history in a small way. My other interests are reading, politics, sudoku, and my cats.
