Bio

Previous married name was Sylvia Parker Walker. I am working on a Parker family history book for my dad’s big family who have all passed except for one aunt. I’m making a section on each sibling plus my grandparents and great grandparents. That’s what got me into Ancestry.com and Find A Grave. Now I’m trying to connect each person I find to their siblings and parents and adding their bio which may just be their obituary. This has turned out to be so interesting to me. I’m learning so much about my family through my dead relatives. It has started great conversations with my family about our past and history. It inspired me to apply for a Veterans gravestone for my great grandfather who lost a leg in the Civil War, but has no grave marker. We know he’s buried next to his wife who has a marker. We had a nice ceremony for him when I finally got the gravestone and got it installed. I’m very happy about that. I’m trying to finish that book as soon as possible, since one of the surviving aunts is 90 and the other 82. The 90 year old passed away 11/4/2018, so I only have one aunt left. And that’s my story on how I got involved with Find A Grave. Update: I got the Veterans tombstone for my great grandfather and had the installation ceremony on December 29, 2018. Unfortunately, my 90 year old aunt died before it was received and installed. My 82 year old aunt and numerous relatives were able to attend, so I was happy with the event and after 105 years my great grandfather has a tombstone grave marker.
