Bio

Direct descendant of Joseph Mark, Jr, born 1752, died 1820, through his son John Mark. Joseph Mark, Jr and his first wife had ten children. As did many families of that era, they migrated westward. The Mark family started from Frederick, Maryland, through Ohio and ending up in Missouri, Kansas and Iowa.

My inspiration derives from a call from a Find A Grave member who had done extensive research on and was related to my paternal grandmother's family. So I am related to that person in a distant way. I've found that person to be an amazing source of information and help and now a good friend. I've been able to locate some Mark family photos and history, which have now been posted on the appropriate memorials. Please add any photos you may have as well.

I have also started researching the family on my mother's side with the surname of Wynkoop. Immigrating from the Netherlands.

I'm finding this venue to be a very good place for present and future generations to have exposure to the life and times of their ancestors. I think it's important for those that follow to be able to put in some kind of context the lives of those who have preceeded them.

I would be happy to hear from other Mark and Wynkoop descendents.
