Born to Lois Ann Ridge and Gerald Joseph Phillips on 7 June 1959 at Northside Hospital in Youngstown, OH. She married John Cruz twice, with the second time giving birth to John Phillips Cruz on October 7, 1991. Both marriages did not last long. She raised her son as a single Mom with the help of her family and Grandma Donna and her church family. He married Garth B Sheldon on 27 Sep 2003. She chose that date because it was the closest she could come to her Mom and Dad's Wedding Anniversary. She hoped her marriage would be as happy and last as long as theirs did.

Christine attended Ohltown United Methodist Church from the age of 5 and was Baptized there. She sang in the Jr Choir as a child, then in the Adult Choir, she was Choir Director for a couple years, lead the Youth Group for a couple years, held several offices, ran the Annual Thanksgiving Dinner along with her Mom and Janet Hood, and participated in various different functions.

She attended Mineral Ridge High School and graduated in 1977. She was in Choir, Solo and Ensembles, Musicals, Gymnastics and Cheerleading. Christine went to YSU and graduated in 1980 with an Associates Degree in Business Management.

Christy was an active member of the All-Ohio State Fair Youth Choir from 1976 through 1978 traveling to and participating in the the Rose Bowl Parade and the European Tour.
