Bio

I participate in findagrave to preserve our collective memories of people's lives and their connections to others, including us, and to the history of places and times. My goal is accuracy and the most complete and telling record possible. Borrowing from "Maggie," I will gladly add information, links, and corrections and transfer a memorial if not closely related to me. I hope you will accord me the same courtesies.

"My" memorials are those of family, friends, and folks whose names or resting places I have found unrecorded or mistakenly recorded, and/or lacking a "manager"where I have additional data. Research of family lines (direct, collateral, by marriage, of friends) and surnames, individuals, or families in a county, town, or cemetery leads me to those memorials (or their absence).

I ask that you refrain from adding "death record" or death certificate or census data to any of my memorials because their elements are so often (notoriously) misspelled or erring in data to the point of misinformation. Too often, they merely confuse research and understanding. These records are often taken down orally and given in a stressful situation, and misunderstanding naturally results and gets duly recorded. The material may be given or set down by one who is apparently indifferent to the situation or careless generally, and errors are the result. Please do not add these types of material.

As you see by the number of memorials I "manage," I do not mine the day's obituaries or "mow the rows" of cemeteries, but I will be glad to help with taking new or clearer photos of grave markers in Anderson (Palestine), Houston (Grapeland area, Slocum), and Limestone (Mexia) Counties in Texas and in Oakwood Cemetery in Waco, McLennan County Texas.

Where I can confirm an error in a name or date on another person's memorial, I make an effort to send notice of the correct data, and ask that others do the same for me. I will query on a possible error that I cannot confirm and ask that you do as well.

I will gladly transfer memorials to you based on the family guidelines that govern us here and hope you'll do the same. Please let me know if you think I may have a photo of your deceased loved one because of your association with my family. If I do, I will send you a copy or the original. I am related to people named Bullock, Clark. Colbert, Ledbetter, Lively, Maples (Wm Cordra Maples - Mungo McCampbell Maples, DAR records), Moore, Noble, Thomas, Waldrop (-oup), Walton, Whitaker (Meredith Whitaker, DRT records), and Wilder (Elizabeth Wilder Maples). Pontotoc and Lafayette Counties. MS, Houston, Anderson, Bell, and McLennan Co, TX, Monroe Co. GA, Alabama, Kentucky, and Tennessee are the places associated with various ones of those families. My husband and I share grandparents (Walton-Rowe) 8 generations ago in Brunswick Co, Virginia.

I'm glad to help with Spanish, French, and a limited number of other Romance languages and will translate Latin or Greek phrases on a stone if you'll be patient. My professional bio (if you really want it) is found on Amazon.
