Bio

Ian was born in Montreal, Quebec, and raised in Hudson, Quebec. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in History and Political Science from Trent University in Peterborough, Ontario.

He began his career as a journalist, working successively, from 1975 until 1981, for The Montreal Star daily newspaper, The Canadian Press news agency in their Montreal and Vancouver bureaus, and the Vancouver Sun daily newspaper.

In 1981, he moved into corporate communications/public relations, working in senior positions successively from 1981 to 2002 for: Alcan Aluminium Limited in their world headquarters in Montreal; the international public relations agency Hill & Knowlton in their Asia headquarters in Hong Kong; the global news and information company Reuters PLC in their Asia headquarters in Hong Kong and Tokyo and their world headquarters in London; the Society for Worldwide Interbank Telecommunications (SWIFT), the global provider of secure financial messaging services, at their world headquarters in La Hulpe, Belgium; and Alterna Technologies Group Inc., a Calgary, Canada-based provider of global Internet-based liquidity management, transaction processing, settlement and bank connectivity solutions for corporations and trading communities.

In 2002, Ian formed his own consultancy, Fraser Communications Inc., through which he provides a wide range of corporate communications services to corporate clients in Canada, the United States, Europe and India.
