CW5 Robert W. Gant

CW5 Bob Gant was born in 1947 in rural northwest Missouri. He worked as a police officer in Liberty, MO and earned an Associate in Applied Science Degree at Maple Woods Community College, Kansas City, MO; a Bachelor of Arts Degree at Avila College, Kansas City, MO; and a Master of Science Degree at Central Missouri State University, Warrensburg, MO. He is a graduate of the FBI National Academy and has attended numerous civilian law enforcement training courses such as polygraph examiner school, forensic photography, investigative hypnosis and numerous behavioral interview/interrogation courses.

CW5 Gant joined the Army in 1967 as a Military Policeman in the Army Security Agency. After serving two tours in Viet Nam, he finished his enlistment at HQ, Army Security Agency, Arlington Hall Station, VA. In 1979, he joined the Army Reserves as an apprentice CID special agent assigned to the 493d MP Det. (CID), Kansas City, MO. He was appointed WO1 in June, 1982. He transferred to the IMA and was assigned to the Third Region (CID) in 1986 where he served as a Drilling IMA Staff Officer in Field Operations until his selection as an AGR (Active Guard Reserve) in 1999. He volunteered for and served at HQ, 3d MP Group (CID) during Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm and again during Operation Uphold Democracy. During both mobilizations, he served a dual role as Reserve Affairs Officer and General Crimes Supervisor. In September, 2007, he was assigned as the Command Chief Warrant Officer of the 88th Regional Readiness Command. He retired in 2009.

Just as in his military career, his civilian career focused in criminal investigation and investigation management. He worked as a police detective for the Liberty, Missouri Police Department, then as an investigations supervisor for the Excelsior Springs, Missouri Police Department. After moving to the Atlanta area, he became the director of facility police at the Georgia Youth Development Center. In 1987, he moved to the private sector as a regional loss prevention manager for Circuit City Stores, Big B Drugs and Tandy Corporation. He continued his loss prevention career until 1999, when he returned to the Army.

CW5 Gant's military awards include: the Order of the Marechaussee, the Legion of Merit, Meritorious Service Medal (2 awards), Army Commendation Medal, Good Conduct Medal, the Army Achievement Medal (3 awards), National Defense Service Medal (3 awards), Army Reserve Component Achievement Medal (6 awards), Armed Forces Reserve Medal (with silver hourglass, "M" & "2" devices), Army Service Ribbon, Viet Nam Campaign Medal and Vietnam Service Medal (with 6 campaign stars).

CW5 Gant and Charlotte, were married in 1967 and currently live in Jacksonville, FL.
