Bio

I have been a genealogist since I was 23 in 1983. My ancestors in America all hail from New England. Starting in Ipswich, MA (William and Bridget Varney), Dover, NH (Humphrey, Ebenezer, Nathaniel, Nathaniel and later migrated through Vermont and then settled in Warren County, New York (Josiah, Nathaniel, Harvey, Warren W., George Dunham, Lionel Marshall). I've spent many hours researching documents in libraries, court houses, archives, etc. but my favorite thing is doing field work in cemeteries and it is always a bonus when I find a headstone or grave marker of an ancestor or family member. In my family tree, whenever I find information I fill it in even if it is cousins' lines so you can imagine the thousands of names my family tree database contains. The creepiest cemetery I have been in is the Dean Cemetery located in Stony Creek, Warren County, N.Y. I don't know why but it just has weird vibes. One of my favorites cemeteries is Hartman Hill Cemetery, Warren County. N.Y. I am always respectful when walking around cemeteries and say an occasional prayer here and there. I try to cut back grass or pull weeds when I am able. I am an ancient cemetery enthusiast and I believe it is important to preserve and care for these monuments for future generations and because it is the right thing to do. I joined findagrave.com on March 29th, 2017 and intend to post pictures. Although the majority will be from New York state I reside in Florida so my field work is done on sporadic vacations to the state.
