My husband and I started researching the Fortune Family in 1976, even taking the long trip out to Coshocton,Ohio and visited the original "old Family Farm" From that time on, we have been "hooked" and love finding out more about my Fortune family. I am especially interested in finding the grave site of Cassandria Jane Wilcox Fortune...she was married to William Henry Harrison Fortune who was killed in 1870. It is listed on her death certificate that she was buried at the Dallas Cemetery in Melcher-Dallas, Iowa but then that was scratched out and they wrote in Kerton or Kirton or Kerten or Kirten Cemetary. Her husband, William Henry Harrison and his parents and I believe at least two of their children are buried here in the Dallas Cemetery...She never remarried after Wm. H. "Harrison" Fortune was killed and remained a widow until her death in 1926 at 85 years of age.
